Appointment Dashboard

User Interface Design | Data Visualization | Usability Testing

The Problem

A rapidly growing primary care healthcare franchise tapped my agency to create a media campaign that could raise its brand awareness in new markets and drive new doctor’s appointments.

Our Solution

To effectively measure media’s impact on online appointment bookings, I designed a dashboard using Google Data Studio (now Looker Studio). This dashboard gave them several views of how many “Online Booked Appointments” (or OBA) they got in a given period, why people were booking the appointments, how many were net new patients, and how many of those appointments were being directly driven by exposure to their advertising efforts.

My Role: Dashboard Design, Data Analyst

Dashboard Design

The dashboard was created to mimic our client’s brand colors — making it easier for them to share internally. It includes interactive elements such as date filters and “drill down” interactions to see which locations perform best in a given market.

Expanding the Dashboard

The dashboard project significantly enhanced our client’s marketing strategy and internal communication. It was so well received that the client requested that market-level dashboards be created for their regional teams. This led to us expanding the initial dashboard into a dashboard portal that housed several dashboard views:

This was the primary dashboard inclusive of all appointment activity. This iteration of the dashboard included additional data sources for appointments booked outside of the client website through services such as Zocdoc.

This includes several dashboards organized by region. These were simplified versions of the MVP dashboard segmented by market across 14 states.

This dashboard looked specifically at appointments booked on the client's website, outlined key user journeys, and highlighted performance for the most visited webpages.

Dashboard Portal Site Map

To manage expectations for such a complex project, I created the following site map to ensure internal and client alignment. Once the site map was approved, we conducted usability testing with the client to identify potential pain points in the dashboard portal's design. Once the “wireframe” dashboard examples were approved, we moved into the final data mapping and design phase. Due to privacy considerations, I cannot share these final iterations of the dashboards.
